A Shreveport-Bossier Day Trip Itinerary

Guests staying three nights or longer often ask for a plan that gets them across the river to Shreveport without eating into an entire day. This itinerary starts at the resort, crosses the Texas Street Bridge, and gets you back in time for dinner reservations.

Morning: Coffee at the Resort, Then Cross the River

Start with coffee at Sweetwater Café before heading out — it opens at 6:00 AM, earlier than most Shreveport breakfast spots. From the resort, downtown Shreveport is about a ten-minute drive across the Texas Street Bridge.

Late Morning: Downtown Shreveport

Downtown Shreveport's riverfront district has walkable blocks worth an hour or two, particularly if you are interested in the area's music and rail history. Parking is generally easy on weekday mornings and a bit tighter on weekends.

Midday: Lunch Across the River

Rather than doubling back to the resort for lunch, this is a good window to try a Shreveport restaurant while you are already downtown. Plan for a relaxed hour here before heading back toward Bossier City.

Traffic across the Texas Street Bridge is heaviest around 5:00 PM on weekdays — crossing back mid-afternoon avoids the worst of it.

Afternoon: Back to the Resort

By early to mid-afternoon, most guests are ready to head back across the river. This is a natural window to hit the courtyard pool deck if it is in season, or book a late-afternoon spa treatment before dinner.

Evening: Dinner and the Casino Floor

Save dinner for back at the resort — Magnolia Kitchen or The Trestle, depending on the mood of the day — followed by an evening on the casino floor or a drink at High Water Lounge to close out the trip.
